This course will provide you with the skills and knowledge required to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on a casualty who is unconscious and not breathing normally, in line with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines. CPR is a lifesaving technique which can sustain life until an ambulance arrives. You will gain the knowledge and confidence to perform CPR on an adult, child and infant, to describe alternative methods for delivering rescue breaths and how to manage a victim of drowning.
The SafeWork Australia model Code of Practice: First Aid in the Workplace and the Australian Resuscitation Council recommend that first aid skills are renewed every three years, and resuscitation skills (HLTAID009/HLTAID015) are renewed every 12 months. This course describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to infants, children and adults in line with first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC)
The course applies to early childhood workers and educators who work with school age children in outside school hours care and vacation programs and are required to respond to a first aid emergency, including asthma and anaphylactic emergencies. This course meets the regulatory requirements as stipulated by the Australian Children's Education and Care Authority.
The most advanced St John course, specifically designed for people employed as occupational first aiders and those aspiring to be employed as one. This course equips students for emergencies in a high risk work environment and provides the skills and knowledge to perform advanced first aid to a in line with first aid guidelines determined by the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC). This course includes HLTAID014 Provide advanced first aid, HLTAID015 Provide advanced resuscitation and oxygen therapy, and HLTAID016 Manage first aid services and resources.

This course offers the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty in a remote or isolated site over an extended period of time until medical assistance is provided, or evacuation occurs.

In addition, St John Ambulance Australia offers specialised non-accredited programs to meet specific workplace and community needs. Examples include Workplace Infection Control, Defibrillation Awareness, Caring for Kids and First Aid in Schools.

Provides participants with practical tips and information on how to recognise and manage stress and how to build resilience to be able to better cope with uncertainties and challenges. This online course is for anyone affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.
This online course is targeted at young people aged 14 years and older. The course aims to raise awareness about mental health problems in young people during the COVID-19 pandemic, including some common signs and symptoms to look out for in themselves or their mates, methods to increase personal resilience and when and where to get help.
This online course is for anyone who regularly or intermittently cares for infants and children, including parents, grandparents, extended family members, babysitters and nannies.
Provides participants with skills and knowledge they need to safely and effectively manage a sharps and/or splash incident.
*St John eLearning courses do not include a practical component normally required to build confidence to apply the skills in a First Aid situation. Online learning is not a substitute for higher level First Aid courses providing ‘hands on’ experience in accredited First Aid training. Awareness courses are not accredited courses suitable for workplace certification.
